Thanks to a collaboration between Engim Restauro and the Laghetto neighborhood library in Vicenza, I participated in the decoration of the walls of a room in the library, under the supervision of restorer and decorator Umberta Revellin.
We reproduced a page from an illustrated book by Marco Sormà on the Infinite by Leopardi.
We studied the subject by reproducing it in scale with the dusting technique, and then decorated the walls with acrylic colors applied with an airbrush and brush.
For this project I worked in a team, with my class of the three-year course for Restoration Technician.
We were asked to paint the walls of a room in a library, the children’s reading room, and we reproduced a drawing from an illustrated book on Giacomo Leopardi.
It was very interesting to work on large dimensions and learn what the various steps are, from color tests, to the mixes, to the creation of the dustings, the transfer and the decoration.
I also had the opportunity to pick up the airbrush again, to create the shades of the sky, after many years of not using it. I then took care in particular of the creation of the butterflies, the petals fluttering in the sky and the sheets of paper.
After creating the sky I dusted off the outline of the butterflies and prepared the chiaroscuro to highlight a three-dimensional base. With successive steps I outlined colors and shapes.
It was a very pleasant and fun group job. In two weeks we created an unthinkable masterpiece together.
