I was fortunate enough to participate in a great project in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, related to Vision 2030, conceived by Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al Sa’ud, who has created a series of great projects for Saudi Arabia.
Here is a video explaining the projects related to Vision 2030:
AlUla is part of this grand vision and will become a major tourism and cultural hub that will attract people from all over the world.
The construction site includes the entire ancient city of AlUla, a town that has grown near a charming oasis in the mountains. AlUla Old Town consists of a sprawl of ancient houses built with mud bricks, mud plaster and roofs of branches and palm leaves, inhabited until the 1960s.
Inside the houses, hidden by mud drips, are found layered mural paintings, created by the people who lived there.
The task of us restorers called to the site by the company Regoli e Radiciotti SRL of Rome was to clean, consolidate and retouch those paintings.
I spent 3 months with them, for a truly exciting and instructive experience in many aspects.
